Screw Thread Inserts

Screw Thread Inserts

A Screw Thread Insert (STICOIL) is an insert made of helically coiled wire of diamond-shaped Stainless Steel or phosphor bronze that screws into a threaded hole to form a mating internal thread for a screw or stud. These inserts provide a convenient means of repairing stripped-out threads and are also used to provide stronger threads in soft materials such as aluminum, zinc die castings, wood, magnesium, etc.

It is available in two types: Free Running Type and Screw-Lock or Mid-Grip Type.

STICOIL Inserts are available in either Standard Free Running or Screw-Lock type for every thread form:
– ISO Metric Threads from 1.6 mm & above
– UNC/UNF, BSW/BSF, BSP/BA, NPT including non-standard size inserts for special part requirements.

Free Running Inserts

The Free Running STICOIL helically coiled insert has precision-formed rounded coils and a diamond-shaped cross-section. When installed, they provide the hole with smooth free-running threads.

Screw-Lock Inserts

STICOIL Screw Lock Inserts have all the characteristics of free-running inserts but with additional polygon-shaped coils in the middle. These coils serve as a locking device by gripping the threads of the installed screw, effectively preventing the screw from loosening under vibration impact. STICOIL Screw Lock Inserts allow frequent removal and reassembly of bolts without appreciable loss of torque. They securely hold screws in place even in tough metals such as cast iron, alloy steel, and titanium.
